What do you do?
I have the privilege of coordinating and implementing our commercial strategy in Latin America. I manage some of our most important relationships and look to acquire more in a region enjoying a positive business environment.
How did you get here?
I left Colombia more than 20 years ago. After an MBA, I joined AIG Life Company’s Management Associate Program, working and living in NY, Mexico and Chile. In the late 90’s, CIGNA hired me as Country Head for Chile and a few years later I relocated to Miami to head their Direct Marketing operation in the Caribbean and Central America.
I joined ReMark almost 13 years ago to implement its Latin America strategy, focusing initially on Mexico before expanding to Brazil, Argentina and Colombia.
Why do you do it?
I’m really passionate about what we do. I know we are the best in our field, and it gives me great satisfaction to exceed our partners’ expectations beyond what they thought was possible.
What have you learned during your career?
I operate in a region where personal commitment is often more important than contracts. The trust I have earned over the years in the market is probably my most valuable asset. I take my commitments very seriously.
What do you do away from work?
My work requires constant travel. When I’m not airborne, I enjoy spending time with my wife and kids. I’m a great fan of The Heat, Miami’s professional basketball team – arguably the best team in basketball history! I also enjoy trying to make sense of American politics, which seems like a sport with very real stakes.
I believe … in people.
