What do you do?
As CEO, I drive ReMark’s global strategy and performance, supporting business units and teams throughout the world. And, as MD for Asia, I am also responsible for the team who manage the development and growth of our business partnerships in Asia, serving a diverse client base in multiple markets.
How did you get here?
After graduating from my actuarial studies in China, I began working for Swiss Reinsurance Company in Australia. I completed my Fellowship (FSA) and pursued a career in reinsurance throughout Asia and Europe with Swiss Re. Interested in the power and potential of direct distribution, I decided to learn more by joining the world leader in this business – ReMark.
During my time with ReMark, I’ve held a number of key management positions in Asia and globally.
Why do you do it?
I strongly believe in what we do. I believe that direct distribution is the most effective way to provide customers with what they need, when they need it and at a price they can afford. Add to that the great team of professionals I work with – I really love my work.
What have you learned during your career?
Quite literally that anything is possible. It has been written that “imagination is more important than knowledge” – I try to use my imagination to bring more value and insight to ReMark and our partners.
What do you do away from work?
While remaining active in actuarial academic research and publication, I enjoy spending time with my young family, renovating my homes in Singapore and Beijing, and I enjoy the odd glass of wine with friends.
I believe … in people. I believe everyone has unique strength. A good leader helps individuals to maximise their strength and potential whilst not losing sight of the group vision.
